PRIVACY STATEMENT

 

Personal data you provide

We collect data you provide to us. This includes information you give when joining as a member or signing up to our newsletter, placing an order or communicating with us. For example:

  • personal details (name, job title, organization and email) when you sign up to our newsletter and / or events.
  • financial information (payment information such as credit/debit card or direct debit details, when making donations or paying for a service. Please see section 8 for more information on payment security); and
  • details of Demos events you have attended.

Sensitive personal data

We do not normally collect or store sensitive personal data (such as information relating to health, beliefs or political affiliation) about those signed up to microport.in/microport  newsletter. However, there are some situations where this will occur (e.g. if you have an accident on one of our events). If this does occur, we’ll take extra care to ensure your privacy rights are protected.

Accidents or incidents

If an accident or incident occurs on our property, at one of our events or involving one of our staff then we’ll keep a record of this (which may include personal data and sensitive personal data).

  1. HOW WE USE INFORMATION

We only ever use your personal data with your consent, or where it is necessary in order to:

  • enter into, or perform, a contract with you;
  • comply with a legal duty;
  • protect your vital interests;
  • for our own (or a third party’s) lawful interests, provided your rights don’t override these.

In any event, we’ll only use your information for the purpose or purposes it was collected for (or else for closely related purposes).

Administration

We use personal data for administrative purposes (i.e. on our research and events programs). This includes:

  • maintaining databases of those signed up to our newsletter;
  • fulfilling orders for goods or services (whether placed online, over the phone or in-person);
  • helping us respect your choices and preferences (e.g. if you ask not to receive marketing material, we’ll keep a record of this).
  1. DISCLOSING AND SHARING DATA

Your personal data – which may include your name, organization, position, and email address are held by our mailing list provider. By signing up for our newsletter you are agreeing to the terms and conditions of MailChimp.com (http://mailchimp.com/legal/terms/). This information is not shared with any other organization. If you wish to unsubscribe from our mailing list at any time, you can do so by clicking the ‘unsubscribe’ link, found at the bottom of any email we send you – or by sending your name and email address to info@microport.in – stating ‘Unsubscribe’ in the email in the subject line or body of the email.

Occasionally, where we partner with other organizations, we may also share information with them (for example, if you register to attend an event being jointly organized by us and another organization). We’ll only share information when necessary and we will never share your contact information (e.g. email or telephone).

  1. MARKETING

Demos will ask for individuals to “opt-in” for most communications. This includes all our marketing communications (the term marketing is broadly defined and covers information shared in our newsletter.)

We use personal data to communicate with people, to promote Demos and to help with fundraising activities. This includes keeping you up to date with information from Demos on our research, events, news, job opportunities and other information relating to our work.

What does ‘marketing’ mean?

Marketing does not just mean offering things for sale but also includes news and information about:

  • our research program, including details of recent reports or blogs;
  • our events and activities; and
  • job opportunities.

When you receive a communication, we may collect information about how you respond to or interact with that communication, and this may affect how we communicate with you in the future.

We employ a variety of physical and technical measures to keep your data safe and to prevent unauthorized access to or use or disclosure of your personal information.

Electronic data and databases are stored on secure computer systems and we control who has access to information (using both physical and electronic means). Our staff receives data protection training and we have a set of detailed data protection procedures which personnel is required to follow when handling personal data.

SECTION 1 - WHAT DO WE DO WITH YOUR INFORMATION?

When you purchase something from our store, as part of the buying and selling process, we collect the personal information you give us such as your name, address and email address.

When you browse our store, we also automatically receive your computer’s internet protocol (IP) address in order to provide us with information that helps us learn about your browser and operating system.

Email marketing (if applicable): With your permission, we may send you emails about our store, new products, and other updates.

SECTION 2 - CONSENT

How do you get my consent?

When you provide us with personal information to complete a transaction, verify your credit card, place an order, arrange for a delivery or return a purchase, we imply that you consent to our collecting it and using it for that specific reason only.

If we ask for your personal information for a secondary reason, like marketing, we will either ask you directly for your expressed consent or provide you with an opportunity to say no.

How do I withdraw my consent?

If after you opt-in, you change your mind, you may withdraw your consent for us to contact you, for the continued collection, use or disclosure of your information, at any time, by contacting us at info@microport.in

 

SECTION 3 - DISCLOSURE

We may disclose your personal information if we are required by law to do so or if you violate our Terms of Service.

SECTION 4 - PAYMENT

We use Razorpay/Instamojo/Paytm/Bharatpay etc for processing payments. We/or Payment Gateways do not store your card data on their servers. The data is encrypted through the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS) when processing payment. Your purchase transaction data is only used if it is necessary to complete your purchase transaction. After that is complete, your purchase transaction information is not saved.

Our payment gateway adheres to the standards set by PCI-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover.

PCI-DSS requirements help ensure the secure handling of credit card information by our store and its service providers.

SECTION 5 - THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

In general, the third-party providers used by us will only collect, use and disclose your information to the extent necessary to allow them to perform the services they provide to us.

However, certain third-party service providers, such as payment gateways and other payment transaction processors, have their own privacy policies in respect to the information we are required to provide to them for your purchase-related transactions.

For these providers, we recommend that you read their privacy policies, so you can understand the manner in which your personal information will be handled by these providers.

Remember that certain providers may be located in or have facilities that are located a different jurisdiction than either you or us. So, if you elect to proceed with a transaction that involves the services of a third-party service provider, then your information may become subject to the laws of the jurisdiction(s) in which that service provider or its facilities are located.

Once you leave our store’s website or are redirected to a third-party website or application, you are no longer governed by this Privacy Policy or our website’s Terms of Service.

When you click on links on our store, they may direct you away from our site. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other sites and encourage you to read their privacy statements.

To protect your personal information, we take reasonable precautions and follow industry best practices to make sure it is not inappropriately lost, misused, accessed, disclosed, altered or destroyed.

We use cookies to maintain the session of your user. It is not used to personally identify you on other websites.

If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you here that it has been updated, so that you are aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we use and/or disclose it.

If our store is acquired or merged with another company, your information may be transferred to the new owners so that we may continue to sell products to you.
